A Week After the Turning.

Alyssa's transformation into embodying the blood sucking vampire she was taught to fear as a child hadn't gone entirely the way she pictured it in her head. Years of being read stories of these murderous creatures by her parents as a way of frightening her into a deep sleep hadn't exactly prepared her for adapting to this new way of life, but then again, there's probably not many vampiric writers scribbling down their experiences for somebody to panic read through after not realising that the mysterious man in a cape offering to "get rid of her human worries" was, in fact, not delivering a slightly odd metaphor for drugs, but truly was going to get rid of her "human worries".

The first week had been a bit strange, much of it was spent being woken up by the smell of her own frying flesh after forgetting to close the curtains. She attempted to fight the forced change in sleep patterns at first, but eventually gave in to the inevitable after realising she physically couldn't leave the house during the day without burning to a crisp. Dying once was more than enough.

It was difficult navigating society as she had done before, for a start the only shops that seemed to be open at 3am were greasy kebab shops - which she was relieved to learn was 24 hours, until attempting to eat there, later leading to her spending the rest of her "day" being sick into one of the skips round the back.

She noticed many changes to her cravings, attempting to settle it at first by buying steaks and drinking the blood out of the packets and discarding the actual steak for a fox to find, something many referred to in the vampire world as "vampiric veganism", which she found a bit daft as this definition was far from what she had previously been used to. But of course, this wouldn't be enough to settle her forever. Sure, the guilt had a big toll on her at first, but she would later learn to live with it.

This gave her the push to quit her minimum wage job which she couldn't realistically show up to anymore anyway. She'd had this job for 7 years at this point, beginning when she was 19 and it was about time she stood up for herself; that, and the fact that she could just steal from the many prosperous business owners who found themselves her unfortunate victims.

There were also less people around during the night, the people that were there were mostly young teenagers hanging around suspiciously under streetlamps, chucking rocks at cars and heckling insults at various passers-by. This made her experience a bit boring until she walked down an alleyway one night to see a fellow vampire feasting upon a victim, the vampire in question stressfully attempting to use his hypnotism to make her forget what she had seen, growing increasingly worried as it appeared his powers had failed him. Alyssa was incredibly confused at first as, truth be told, she still didn't really believe in vampires, despite ironically being one herself. After a long conversation and an exchange in phone numbers and social media links she finally had someone to look to for advice through the rest of this surreal nightmare she found herself inhabiting.

Alonso had been turned to this life of living in the shadows in the 1600s, after getting into a passionate argument with a bread salesman who recognised him from the "wanted for robbery" posters printed around the town. He secretly had a lot of appreciation for Alonso, and saw part of himself in his personality, from his similar past of stealing. This caused him to make the difficult decision for many vampires, which was to turn him into a vampire. He just couldn't let that potential go to waste; it was bloody difficult finding people who lacked any empathy to their crimes in this town, and it would make the troubles that come with murdering on the daily way easier to manage. It was simply meant to be.

She had made many discoveries that week, with many more to come, but at least she had somebody from the olden days to assist her in her upcoming journey now.
