BVB's new EP; my thoughts and feelings

so black veil brides just released The Mourning about twelve hours ago as of writing this. Im listening to it as I type so here are my thoughts!

First and foremost this is probably my favorite release of theirs since Rebels (2017). I've been a fan of bvb for a hot minute, and I'll always be biased ("set the world on fire" my beloved!!!). But something about this EP feels a bit more reminiscent of their earlier work, especially The Revival. It just feels more emotional to me, I suppose. 

I enjoy black veil brides for their poetic lyricism, but oftentimes I find the emotion of the music is lost to the metaphors in the lyrics. The Mourning is, in my opinion, a beautiful balance between their usual symbolism and the, I suppose, grittiness of their earlier work.

My only bone to pick with it is my own bias around missing their old sound, but I'm proud of how their music has progressed and matured over the years so I can't really bitch about it that much.

overall I'd give The Mourning a solid 8.5/10! Hoping they play some of it when I see them in a few weeks!!
