Toxic (A 2000s diary)

Dear Diary,

THE craziest thing just happened!! I saw someone totally ROCKING the 2000s teen look! Her hair was teased and her UGG's were SO like, vintage?? She had low wasited wide boot-cut jeans and a JUICY crop top?? JUICY!!! I thought that wasn't available anymore!! Her hair was teased for the GODS and it was a layered kinda messy look but it worked SO well?? She had a SERIOUS smoky eye! Like, Think Ayesha Erotica "Vacation Bible School" "Emo Boy" REALNESS! It was FABULOUS!!

with love, Aoi.

2000S FASHION

When you hear "2000s" what do you think of? Juicy tracksuits? Messy blond highlights? Britney Spears golden age?? I think of all of that and more. Y2K fashion was there and it was SERIOUS (ly awesome!!) It was a time of glamour and hairspray, low waisted jeans and crop tops. Body Jewelry and Converse (converse are literally godly I love them so much.) Celeb events were LITTERED with girls wearing tracksuits and crop tops. Let's not forget the 2000s shows like ICarly and Victorious (Jade is still iconic and Sam was my gay awakening fr) where the tank tops were layered and the memes were multiplied.

2000S MUSIC

Artists such as Riahhna and Britney Spears were at their height of popularity, with songs such as "Toxic", "Party Rock", and "Umbrella." sure one of them didn't come out until 2010 but they're still STAPLE songs. Even today people listen to them and enjoy them. (How could we forget Taylor Swifts "You belong with me"??) For a rundown, check out this Spotify playlist by Hanna Kunkle.

After giving a few of those a listen, surely you agree that it was an ICONIC time for songs. Ke$ha, Rihanna, the list goes on, even Shakira was a part of this rave. Even past the 2000s the music they produced songs that SCREAM 2000s. Even today in the 20s we have hits like "Vacation Bible School", and in the late 2010s we got "Emo Boy" (Ayesha) and "Hello Kitty" By Slayyyter!

The comeback of Y2K

Today I wonder why we don't dress like that and have that same music.. Well, we do! the style called "Y2K" came back!! And oh my god is it everything I've ever wanted. You can find stuff like it on SHEIN (I say shein not shee-en that's weird.)

Isn't the style just ICONIC?? It's like the fashion god (who I personally think is Aphrodite but like ofc it is <3 love you Aphrodite) heard my prayers and said "LET THERE BE BOOT-CUT". AND juicy made a new sweatsuit?? Literally OMIGOD. Time to watch mean girls and legally blonde bc I cannot wait. Next time I get paid I'm going STRAIGHT to the mall to find some clothing.

God, I remember when I was 7 in 2014, I was jamming OUT to Katy Perry and Britney Spears! (My brother told me the firework music video was "inappropriate" because it had two women(??) kissing? or was it men.. Either way it was both Gay and Katy Perry so it was and is still perfect for my Queer Eye ass.

I am so grateful that this came back and is still breathing.
