Current day social media posts make me want to fistfight corporations

Every time I see an absolute banger on some shit like twitter/instagram, I always dive into the replies to see how people react to it. Sometimes I’m fishing for memes, sometimes I’m looking for even funnier follow-up posts. Without fail, every damn time, it’s a thread of fucking replies for a TikTok lamp or a lameass thread pushing some political agenda or sex toys, etc.

Fun fucking fact: if you look in the damn source code for these platforms, you’ll see that half the algorithm is made of the same copypasta for a lamp that NEVER works half as well as these posts make them out to be. If you remove it, the platform straight up fucking dies.

 It’s so depressing to see that a majority of what’s recommended to me is just a bot yoinking uncredited memes from nobodies, buying likes and retweets to build up engagement, just for it to reach my scrolling fingers. Rejecting modernity and embracing tradition by frequenting sites like SpaceHey and NewGrounds has deadass helped me rekindle my love for the internet. I haven’t felt this new sense of discovery since I was a kid.
