i had the idea recently to add a minor to my degree- computer science. this will be in addition to my maths minor, which is basically only two extra classes cos ece degree has lots of maths already. anyway, so the maths minor adds another 6 hours i need to take as opposed to before, and now the cs adds another 11 (cos i already took/am taking two courses that count for it). 17 total hours. that's just an added semester. and, doing some quick maths, it's no biggie!!!! including what i am doing now, i have 71 hours to complete for my major, plus the 17 = 88 hours. divide that by 6, that ends up at 14.667 hours per semester. which is far less than what i have been doing thus far. but then, i also need to take a couple summer courses this coming summer, so that'll bring that down. anyway, so point is that i am CHILLING when it comes to finishing on time, even with the added load (according to my maths).
this is also fun because, if anything, i will have to take unnecessary/extra courses just to pad it out right so that i finish in spring (as cool as entering the workforce early would be, i also really like university), particularly for student aid reasons.
my current prospect with cs is to take the courses i need (that i am technically ahead of right now with my data structures class), programming ii and discrete computational structures. what i wish to further do is computer organization and assembly programming and then after that computer architecture.
maths, i will just do the bare minimum (linear algebra and statistics) haha
the ironic part is that i was sorting all this out and planning the courses for the next semester to the point that i didn't do some homework due tonight like i already planned to do this morning. :)
also, the cs counselor is slick, he's right quick and no frills.
