Random thoughts on my first 2 days' experience on Spacehey... Also, does anyone even read these blog posts?

So I just wanted to think out loud (well, on paper... wait no, on screen?! lol) about my experience so far with this site. I joined it thinking it was a fun nostalgic gimmick that'd just be entertaining for a few hours.

What I didn't expect was just how addictive and positive an experience it would be! I feel like a huge proportion of the people on here have loads of similar tastes and interests to me in a way that I haven't felt since my OG emo phase in the 00s.

All the mainstream social media sites of the last decade are a lot more "square" in my opinion, but making a profile on this site has brought a whole new lease of life to social media as a platform for an alternative/underground scene.

I guess Myspace was kind of an "internet wild west" where the users had way more control over their profiles, and big corporations had a lot less influence on the platform compared to FB and insta with their constant ads, hiding friends' posts from each other, etc etc.

This site has made me realise just how limiting the main social sites are these days, and Spacehey feels like much more of a community owned by its members. The energy on here is so much more creative and chaotic... And perhaps best of all, it's made me realise how big and alive the emo scene still is.

Ramble over!

This definitely feels like a more organic way to make friends. It reminds me of being a kid at school, seeing another kid with the same backpack or a cool pencil case and instantly becoming friends. So, yeah I think people read these!

Yeah it's totally like that! It's pretty refreshing being able to do that again after not having the opportunity for all those years

Oh yeah! I read blogs lol! I love blogging. Right now, listening to your song 'Debris Slide' and reading your blog!

I agree 100%. Facebook doesn't allow for individual customization or personality.

I am listening to your song still, and one of the voices sounds like M Shadows and I really love it! The whole song is awesome!

Oh glad to hear it! Maybe I'll write some more in future then :)

Yeah, FB, insta etc are so streamlined and tightly controlled by their companies, and they've got all those advanced algorithms now that manipulate users into getting more addicted, withhold content from your own friends/followers and bombard you with so many ads, this site being free of that (at least for now) is such a breath of fresh air.

Ohhh thank you so much for the kind words on my song! The guy that sounds like M Shadows will be Safehold who I got in to feature on the song (I'm British so my accent is pretty different!)

That's awesome to have someone to collab with! Thanks for the info! I love accents. But I never really hear accents in music. So weird. It's just my ear I guess. I knew fromt he videos and license plates on cars (before checking your profile) that you weren't in the states.

Yes!I feel the same way. Everyone seems to be nice because this side isn't that popular yet so all the small minded people aren't here. I already saw MANY Emo, Scene, Goth, Punk etc. People here. Thats very exciting. ^^

Yeah, it's true! This has become THE emo social site, at least for now!
