Hey guys! I felt the dire need to make a blog about this particular dutch animation I've been following for the past 2-3 years, and it just wrapped up its "pilot episode" today. The animation is called "Ongezellig", and its a goofy show following the lives of three girls Mymy, Maya, and Coco and their life in the Netherlands. It primarily focuses on Maya's introversion and how she interracts with the world around her, and the relationship she has with her two sisters.
The characters are really interesting, like for example, Coco is a white South African girl who didn't have much of a family growing up, so she takes family very seriously. Maya is a recluse/shutin who doesn't interact that much and has bad social anxiety. Mymy is a Japanese girl who is obsessed with Dutch culture, and even went as far as to dye her hair and wear blue contacts while being fanatically obsessed with European history.
It has the potential to become something bigger, but the creator "Studio Massa" is putting Ongezellig on hold since its 6 part pilot is now complete. I pray that it becomes something bigger, because I REALLY enjoy this cartoon. Depending on your tastes, I highly suggest you check this one out! Here are the six "deels" or parts of the pilot episode, all of which were cultivated over a few years:
