Patch.com is a really great source of local information...I know this because while reading the headlines one day I stumbled across a post advertising a car show about a town or 2 away from me. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it (night owls cannot get up early - we just can't), but I did a little digging & found one of the organizers had a weekly cruise night just a few towns over from me. I checked the distance, & once I found it was doable I decided to go - it just happens to be on my night off, too!
I got there, & it was amazing - cars everywhere, and even better for me, several first and second generation Firebirds (Full disclosure: I absolutely LOVE those cars - I have a fourth gen). My camera could barely keep up, & the drivers were so friendly - some even brought their DOGS!!! OMG yes, let me pet all the puppies!!!
Somehow, some of the gearheads found where I was parked over in the spectator area, & immediately decided that I need to be in the rows with them - even though my car looks and sounds pretty rough for her age (24 years old now, & it's been almost 10 years with her). We've been hanging ever since, & I have to say I am having the time of my life. Even met a few more people who are more than impressed to have a GIRL in the ranks - not some airhead groupie, but a bona fide Gearhead Girl (more like gearhead-in-training, but I digress.).
Sadly, the fall weather means the season is going to end soon, but I'm already looking forward to next year. It's been so much fun, & hopefully my car will be in better shape next year - who knows? There may even be a road trip in our future...
