What Is Vtubing?

What Is Vtubing?

Introduction

In the past few years, we’ve seen an explosion in interest in the world of virtual YouTubers. But what exactly is a virtual YouTuber? And how does it differ from cosplay? If you want to know more about this fascinating new world, then keep reading!

The Etymology of vTubing

Vtubing is a relatively new phenomenon that has been gaining popularity in the past few years. It's often referred to as "vTuber" or "vTubing," but you may be wondering where the word came from.

The word vTuber comes from the combination of two words: virtual and tuber. The prefix "vu-" means "virtual," and a tuber is any underground root that grows horizontally (as opposed to vertically). Roots are tubers, but not all tubers are roots! This makes sense since most people think of tubers when they hear this term—but it also makes it possible for us to use an existing word with a slightly different meaning than expected, which can lead to confusion if someone hasn't heard of vtubing before or doesn't know what it might mean beyond its literal definition (which would be strange because we're talking about something called Virtual TUBER).

So what does vTuber mean? It could refer specifically to someone who watches other people play video games on YouTube; more broadly speaking though it refers more generally just anyone who likes watching gameplay videos online these days.
