penny for your thoughts please/gen

theres this program that my school is offering all cte students and you can compete with other teams and schools in your field of choice. If I signed up I would do business information management. normally I wouldn't be into something like this but im high-key down for something new and spontaneous. it's also an opportunity to meet new people and make friends because it's guaranteed a common interest. but I'm pretty sure I have to sign up with a team and I don't really have any friends (in a cte class at least) that would even be in a group with me anyway. there's a lot of opportunities and field trips and I get to skip out of some school. what do you guys think? or is it too out there especially for me. ive never done anything like this before
