Overboard

As the light reflected off those khaki speckled eyes,
narrowing, with passion filled urgency, my love...
your mighty strength, elevating me
suddenly hoisting me upĀ
and overboard
horrified, I gasp, shrieking, screaming
as I plummet into the darkness -
seconds... in slow motion...
breath taken on impact, in sea's icy grip
the sound of the ship's engine
overpowering, drowning out
other worldly sounds.
I am tossed, thrown into encircling currents
spinning, rolling in the heaving vastness,
bubbling gurgling sounds escape me
as the fizzy salty froth consumes me,
drifting, floating, as the delirium of
clinging life ebbs away...
Ocean's bed finally lays me down
amongst other untold stories and crimes...
deceptive secrets revealed
in remnants of wreckage,
ghostly ships that quiver
yet so alive with darting marine life.
My love, of the sea took me
a taste of bitter love.
