will i ever feel this warmth without you? the signals it sends are better than the hug of another. when the world is ending, i would like to die with you. a puddle of my blood, a cricket in my hair, another mammal on my body. i give back to hear your smile. thank you for loving me like no one else. thick & thin, i’ll always be nothing, yet everything in my own mind. sizzling, sticky, the bad smell of blood, fresh from the arm of minds newest, oldest, belle. she has kept warm— the way she tucks me in and plagues my mind with her kiss—! i plan to ask her why she cuts my hair, but she never answers my questions anyway. never leave me. this pan on my body is reinventing warmth.

of my beloved (2015)
