For me I generally like to enjoy music without idolising the artist with an exception for Gorillaz (love them) and I don't really have a lot to listen to right now because a lot of songs I've listened to countless times - I need new songs to obsess over. Not songwriters, not singers but songs.

Alright, these are songs that have layered meanings, great choruses, and even better stories associated with them.
The Sharpest Lives -- MCR ( Widely accepted as a song about living dangerously but also a comment on the underground rock scene and the self-destruction of rockers ).
House of Wolves -- MCR ( About a hospital patient, close to death -- the same character in The Sharpest Lives -- contemplating whether they are going to heaven or Hell with the life they've lead )
To the End -- MCR ( A song based off the story A Rose For Emily where a womans lover keeps looking at other men, and she kills him with cyanide -- Gerard Way adds the twist that she also kills any man that looks back at him too -- wishing for his love to be only hers eternally )
