As a boy I always looked forrward to Saturday’s to watch my favorite TV show about Tarzan. I can recall in one such episode, Tarzan was swinging tree to tree while holding on to a vine. Suddenly the vine breaks and Tarzan falls into this deep pit. After a short while Tarzan regains consciousness from his fall. He looks around and realizes that he is trapped. But no fear, Tarzan uses his famous wild man call and summons the aid of this elephant. As the elephant approaches the pit, Tarzan looks up at the elephant and yells .. “ Ungawa, Timba !!! , Ungawa, Timba !!! “. The elephant leaves and soon returns with a log. The elephant lowers the log into the pit and Tarzan makes his escape.
Now, you might be asking yourself, why am I telling you this story ? Well, it so happens, that the other day I was at the zoo. It’s a modern zoo where the animals are allowed to roam freely in their enclosures. One particular enclosure had this huge elephant.
So yeah, you guessed it, there I was all alone and my wild side got the best of me. So, remembering my boyhood hero, Tarzan, I cupped my mouth with both of my hands and yelled.. “ Ungawa, Timba ! , Ungawa, Timba “ . No reaction from the elephant. In fact, he had this confused look on his face. So, I tried again .. “ Ungawa, Timba !!!.
Suddenly, I hear this voice behind me say .. “ Cut the elephant a break, man. His name is not Timba !!!
