online

but not doomscrolling

i like the era of internet that was like this. being online via smartphone doesn't feel special like this used to.

maybe im just being all nostalgic and whatever but i do feel like online spaces were so much less capitalized on. its not about being connected to your friends anymore its about getting you to stare at your phone for as long as you can so they can place ads in your face every 5 seconds. they arent even subtle about it anymore.

anyways thats my ted talk, im just an old coot missing early internet

You said it! There was just something special about firing up a clunky desktop computer and hitting up your friends on AIM or whatever, Downloading random songs from limewire so you could burn them to a cd to share with with gang, or just perusing random message boards. Youtube felt more personal, less like tv. Everything just had so much charm and personality. Like you said, smart phones just don't really hit the same for me either and I feel WAY to accessible to my workplace. lol. Also neopets was the bomb-diggity!
