jailbroke the vita

so i succeeded, i have jailbroken a vita.

this is, i suppose, my first jailbreak and it went pretty well. only major hiccup was that it got stuck at one point (unrelated to hack) while at nearly full battery so i had to wait 12+hours for the vita to run out of battery before i could keep working on it.

i rolled back the firmware to 3.60, which was kinda worrying. mostly on account that the guide said that the way to make sure i have the correct version said "modded by x" but the version i had did not say as such (though i downloaded it from their github). also, sd2vita was a bit confusing trying to make work, but once i actually read a thing or two it worked pretty quick.

my main thing for it is psp games (as well as to ahem vita games i could never afford as a kid ahem*) and so far it works GREAT. i played nfs: underground rivals for a bit which was great because i lost the umd disc i had for it as a kid, so i have not played it since i was like 6. but, playing it now, it slaps still. also got battlefront ii working (and thanks to some of adrenaline's special settings, i am able to use the not-jank psp control schemes, but something more modern with the double joysticks).

i still have my own ps vita fully stock (used my brother's for the experimenting), so i will keep playing that normally as well. i was worried my brother's left stick was going to have issues cos it clicked when moved (ps vita sticks do not click) but it's gone away, so i don't have to replace it (yet, haha). also, considering these were glass devices owned by a pair of children, they are both rather scuffed, so perhaps i will try to replace the rear touch pads at least, and perhaps the screens (they each have some tiny scuffs)

overall, slick experience, glad fawkes bullied me into doing this.
