My Yellowstone Fling

So I came across a post in my Facebook newsfeed by Derrick Jaxn. It is a picture of a middle aged man & the post asks, "Ladies Would You Date A Man 10 Years Younger Than You?" So I saw no problem in replying, "When I was 19 I somewhat dated a 36 year old man. Basically we weren't in a serious relationship. We just kept each other company. I guess what you would call a fling. That is the only time I dated a much older man than me. In my experience he was nice & didn't take advantage of me financially. So my experience wasn't bad." So I guess I will talk about my Yellowstone fling in this blog because that seems to be a cool story I don't mind sharing.  

So when I was 19 I went to Yellowstone National Park to work over there. I ended up getting assigned to work at Lake Hotel. At 1st me & the man were definitely just platonic.  Well on my end I was. I never imagined he would be interested in me in a romantic way. So I never thought to have those kind of feelings for him in the beginning.  I met him in the kitchen where we worked. He was nice & kind. Never any problems between us. 

Well overtime in about a couple of months later on we did end up romantics involved.  He would take me out to eat a lot! I one time felt bad & insisted on buying him his pack of Camel cigarettes 🐫🚬. He told me that if I insisted he would accept the offer. So I did & we went back to his dorm to watch movies. He had a big collection of dvds. 

One day I showed him my paycheck stub asking what one of the taxes were that the company was taking out. He was confused & checked his paycheck stub to see if he got that tax taken out too which he did. Neither one of us could figure it out. Well he ended up seeing how much my paycheck was & he was absolutely shocked! He told me that he had no idea as a pantry cook I was making that much less than him. I told him yeah that they keep me on minimum wage even after promoting me out of dish pit into the pantry. That they told me if I come back the next season they would give me a 25 cent raise. He was so shocked & told me that he makes more than me as a main cook. That he never wants me to feel like I should owe him for treating me out to eat. I was suprised because in my short time of dating I never experienced that back then. 

So as time continued he was a real gentleman.  He even made sure I wasn't walking by the street & that I walked on the other side if him away from the street when we would walk together.  He explained to me the safety behind it. He never was controlling or told me how to dress or act. Just a real nice man that happened to be 17 years older than me. That was the only difference.  While in Yellowstone we really enjoyed each other's company.  

Well then came towards the end where he didn't work there anymore. He was off to another placement of work in Denver, Colorado.  I ended up having if I remember correctly 3 weeks left until my contract ended. We exchanged contact information.  He had a pay as you go phone & back then we didn't have cellphone service in that part of Yellowstone.  So he gave me the last number he had. I did let him know that I don't think he will still have that number anymore.  Well he assumed he would & I gave him the address I was going to be staying at to write or come visit if he was ever in the Dallas area. We ended on a good note. No drama at all. 

So overtime I did discover the phone number was given to another person when I got to Dallas. I ended up moving out of the apartment I gave him the address too within a few weeks of arriving there. So needless to say we lost contract & that is ok. This man did serve for a good purpose.  He showed me how a woman should be treated & I kept that information in the rest of my love life adventures. So I do appreciate him. I know some people may look at the age difference & say it was wrong.  Well yes I was younger, but we were both consenting adults. I may have had a lot to learn, but at 19 I was old enough to make that decision.  Now if I was underage & an older man got involved with me then yes, that would be so wrong! Wasn't the case in this situation & I did end up learning from him. Also we gave each other companionship so no regrets at all. 

I hope wherever he is that he is enjoying life. I also hope he is indulging in the beauty of streaming channels! I remembered how much he enjoy watching movies.
