Sparklehorse

Sparklehorse is one of my absolute favorite artists of all time. From the moment I heard Mark's music I was fascinated, there was something completely original and strange about the band, yet it resonated with me in the same way some people talk about classic rock. His lyrics always struck me in such a simple and beautiful way, and he inspired me a lot as to how much care he always put into all of his albums.

That was an American indie rock band that was fronted by singer and multi-instrumentalist Mark Linkous until his death by suicide on March 6, 2010. Drummer and multi-instrumentalist Scott Minor is a frequent collaborator, sometimes I like to do a lot of covers of them

Joe Tangari, editor of the music publication Pitchfork, described Linkous's songs as "defiantly surreal... with all sorts of references to smiling babies, organ music, birds, and celestial bodies.... In fact, some of their lyrics they're so surreal it's hard to imagine they're metaphors for anything." Many of these references are literary or from a variety of rock music sources.

In 2015, the song "Piano Fire" was included in the soundtrack of the video game Life Is Strange.
