i'm very skilled (at something very useless...)

me and some friends were doing sporcle geography quizzes a few nights ago and i decided that i wanted to be able to name and place all 50 US states. i'm from England so have literally no reason for knowing all the states or where they are, but i wanted to have a fun little thing to show off. so US states it was! (fun fact - my middle name is actually one of the states)

on day one, i could get up to 30 or 40 states before 10 minutes ran out. it was very frustrating so i stopped after a while, but tried hard to remember the ones i forgot most.

the next day, i kept forgetting states until i only forgot two each time (usually Wisconsin and Nebraska bc who tf cares about them) so i stopped for the day bc i kept getting annoyed.

on day three, i could usually name all the states within 6 minutes! i'd developed a system where i try and name them going in order geographically, so i'd start with Washington and go right until Michigan, and i'd do the whole cluster of southern states like Texas and Alabama in quick succession and get a good chunk filled out. so not only can i name all the states, but i could point most of them out on a map too!

yesterday i achieved an all time quickest record of 2 minutes and 13 seconds. i was honestly so stoked bc that's quite impressive! especially since i'm not the best typer and have a 60% keyboard.

but finally, today i did it in 1 minute and 58 seconds. i'm sure tomorrow, or maybe even later today, i'll do it quicker, but i wanted to share this with the world bc i'm very proud of what i have achieved.
