Totally out of my element :(

I've been in Connecticut for 2 days and I feel like an idiot already *cries*

First of all, my RA is NUUUUUTTTTTTSSSSS!!!!!! She'll do random room checks at all times of the day and will throw open our drawers and closets to make sure we don't have anything which I'm pretty sure is ILLEGAL??? Also, she said that I "look like I would hide alcohol" which...yeah lol but bro, you just met me!

Secondly, everyone here is such a yuppie wasp it makes me sick. The second day of orientation was club fair day and all the clubs were like "designer clothing appreciation" or "wine tasting" or bull like that, idk. It was just a little too "my daddy owns a country club" for me. The only club that seemed worth joining was the acapella club, but I can't sing to save my life LOL.

Speaking of yuppie wasps, my roommate wanted to check out one of the sororities, and I said fine even though I am anti Greek life and Lord is that president scary! She was talking about people being placemats and yelling at these two girls and basically called me a slut because my shirt was tight. Also, all the girls looked the EXACT SAME. Like to the point where they actually got in trouble for lack of diversity last year. The president tried to be like "oh no, it's not that big of a deal, it's just that only leggy, blonde, white girls want to rush this sorority" and call me crazy, but isn't that a problem in of itself?? Like if certain groups of people don't want to be anywhere near the sorority it might be because they know that they wouldn't be safe there? Correct? The lack of self awareness would have been funny had this woman not tried to claim they were diverse because one of the girls is 1/8 Native American (which given American history is NOT a feat). My roommate and I booked it out of there, especially after we saw that they had a geisha themed party back in 2005 (my roommate's Korean, but as a Dominican I would still book it if I saw them in sombreros and ponchos!)

On the bright side, I really like my roommate! I signed up for a single room, but turns out you have to have a disability to get a single room, and so I got placed with this freshman girl from Texas. She's really sweet, and we've actually gotten along really well! A lot better than I thought we would considering her parents didn't seem too fond of me at first, but they warmed up to me by the time they had to drive back home. They even invited me, Lisa, and David out to dinner which I thought was really sweet, but we declined because we wanted them to have that last dinner as a family. Next time they go to dinner though, I'm going, because my roommate bought back these really yummy crab cakes and now she can't remember the name of the restaurant hahaha.

Anyway, that's how my life has been so far! I can feel in my bones this is going to be a pretty crazy school year. Lets hope it's a good crazy!!!
