one of those would describe the riff i just came up with. i would have recorded it and embedded it here, but i am not motivated enough to move the cables around and boot up the recording programme and doing all that. it is a shame, cos i will probably forget the riff by next i wake. maybe even by the end of writing this. but i can describe the feeling and by extension why those titles.

it starts with plucking the second harmonic of the top three stings. then there are two thumps before the third hit becomes a sustained note that turns to a riff that goes up, then down, then thumps three times again before a short pause and a repeat of the whole thing. it is a very fluid riff. it is important that one does not accidentally touch the strings plucked at the start, and ideally the harmonics will still be ringing by the next time they are plucked. also, the two strings between the lowest and the top three should stay silent. don't ring those out by accident. there should be a clean dichotomy between airy ambiance and rhythmic growl, with the rhythmic growl relaxing for a moment, becoming a baritone song, before returning.

a ying yang. two different perspectives that combine into a cohesive circle of splendor.

who knows, maybe with this text i may remember it tomorrow. if i do, i shall post an update with the actual sound embedded. that's assuming i am also motivated enough when i remember.
