10 Bands/Musicians I Consider Overrated Part I

Ah, Music. Is there any other form of entertainment more subjective? We all have our own tastes. One person might like say Metallica but dislike Slayer for example. The point is, no tastes in music are the same (something most people online (myself included at times) fail to grasp). These are 10 Bands/Musicians I consider overrated.

DISCLAIMER: If you easily get butthurt, you may not want to read this blog (not that anyone here does lol). If you like any of the bands mentioned here, I'm glad you find enjoyment out of them, but as for me, my tastes are more specific. This will also be a lengthy read, so brace yourselves and consider yourselves officially warned. With that out of the way, let's get to it:

10.) Linkin Park - The early 2000s sparked a Renaissance for Nu Metal: Basically edgelords obnoxiously rapping about how much life sucks to Metal Music (the genre, though now about as culturally relevant as Alf Pogs, lives on in many Meth Bars across America thus giving the genre a new term: Meth Rock). One of the bands to emerge from this fad was Linkin Park; A band that came back into prominence in recent years following the death of their lead vocalist Chester Bennington. I'm not talking ill about Chester or the band (especially since Chester was a chill guy from what I heard), I'm just not a fan of their style of music. Call me old and ignorant but it sounds like wild baboons that belong in a zoo. When they were new, their 3 hits (at the time) played repeat ad nauseum on the radio and that's honestly what killed it for me. If I have to hear In The End one more time, it will be too soon. Just sayin'. Linkin Park: Nothing wrong with them, just not my style of music and that's why they're at the bottom of this list.

9.) The Beatles - The Beatles were a band everybody either loves or hates. They were imo pretentious and overplayed (what was the big deal anyway? They were just a British Rock Band. Jesus! You did not see anyone make that big a fuss over say The Kinks or The Zombies (both of whom were better bands). That and John Lennon (a woman hitter and all around douchebag) was, and even beyond death, still is one of the faces of Celebrity Privilege (shady details not applying as long as someone brings happiness to millions everywhere). The only thing keeping The Beatles from being any higher on this list is the fact that I actually do like a few of their songs (that and I really do not mind George Harrison as a solo act. He was clearly the better musician of the band). Other than that, they sucked new, they sucked after falling out cultural relevance, and they especially suck now.

8.) Journey - Once upon in 1973, A Supergroup was formed called Journey. It consisted of Gregg Rolie and Neal Schon from Santana, Ross Valory from The Steve Miller Band, Mothers of Invention and Jeff Beck Band alumni Aynsley Dunbar, and George Tickner from Frumious Bundersnatch (a short lived Indie Psychedelic Rock band from San Francisco). For their first 3 albums, Journey played Progressive Rock and Jazz Fusion (and did a good job at it too. Y'all can keep The hits but I'll take Topaz over Don't Stop Believin' any day). Sadly their early work got nowhere because nobody wanted to listen to it dismissing it as overly pretentious and redundant. Then in the late 70s, Steve Perry ruined I mean joined the band and changed them to the famous Vanilla Pop/Rock act they became known as. I fucking hate anything Journey did after Perry joined. The most laughable thing is, many hail Steve Perry as "The Voice". Like I said, Music is Subjective, but if people consider whiney as shit wailing the perfect candidate for a moniker like that, more power to them. And I sat through William Hung only two albums. To me, Journey, Look Into The Future, and Next will always be their definitive works. Anything beyond those is simplistic, boring as shit dribble that brings happiness to idiots that can't tell the difference between real music and overplayed garbage!

7.) Snoop Dogg - I do not see the appeal of this celebrity, let alone how people still give him attention (especially every year on 4/20). With some exceptions, I am not a fan of Rap as it is, but Snoop Dogg is an Attention Whore. From his appearance on Trailer Park Boys to him becoming at least one of the faces of weed legalization, to those cringy Girls Gone Wild porno tapes they used to advertise on TV 20 years ago, he is everywhere and frankly, not that talented or amazing. He is even a transphobe. Dude called Caitlyn Jenner a science experiment. I am not too crazy about Caitlyn Jenner (she might be trans and not to play The Lorax and Speak For The Trees as it were, but does NOT represent the trans community), but even what Snoop said about her was not okay. Talentless, overplayed, and transphobic, Snoop Dogg is trash and most people fail to see it.

6.) Ghost - Also known as a Modern Day KISS, Ghost are one of those gimmicky bands that dress in costumes and play bland as shit Rock music. Lots of people enjoy their material, but I think they are worse than mediocre. And their shtick of dressing like religious church guys while playing what sounds like a Metal version of ABBA is just fucking cringeworthy. If I wanted to listen to gimmicky crap, I'd go on YouTube and look up Metal covers of not so Metal songs by Indie YouTube Musicians. Same thing. Ghost suck so bad, they make The Osmonds sound like King Crimson. Hell, they make fingernails on a chalkboard sound bearable. How people like them is beyond me (but again, to each their own).

Check in for Part II (In progress of being written) of this list in the next blog as this is getting super lengthy now
