how do i make my messy hair stay in place?

I have messy hair sometimes and i like it like that but even if i use a lot of hairspray it wont stay messy, does anyone have any tips?? :DD tyyy. Also my cousin says i look like Janis from mean girls XD I'll take that as a compliment.
