Went to a comic book store today!

They had SQUEE last time so how could I pass that up? Today they had 2 more copies of SQUEE and the JTHM collection! (the one where all the issues are in one comic) Sadly it wasn‘t the hardback cover version, but that one seems super hard to come by. 

This time I got issue #1 of this comic called “A town called terror”, the hardcover copy of “Lenore, Pink Bellies”, and Burne Hogarth‘s Dynamic Anatomy revised and expanded.

The anatomy one isn’t a comic and is actually for advanced study and improvement upon drawing the human form. I‘m really looking forward to studying that one, as I‘m super rusty when it comes to drawing detailed muscles, tendons, and general realism. 

I do seriously want to improve as an artist and maybe even an animator, so for my Junior year I‘m going to really focus on practicing and honing in on my skill.

Other than that, I‘m excited to finally read Lenore! I‘ve heard good things about it, but never got the chance to check it out.

I highly recommend going to a comic book store if you can afford it, or just going there to read in house! I don’t know if they’ll yell at you to buy it before you read (if it isn’t wrapped in plastic or a comic book holder) but if I were an owner of a comic book store I’d let people read before they buy.

Otherwise, how will you know if you like it? 

I may go back to the store soon as for the books on learning advanced art info, I want to get Burne Hogarth‘s book on Dynamic Light and Shading. Shading and light is sort of a struggle of mine? As of late I’d like to say I‘m making some kind of improvement, but I would like to really look into how to make the shade and light look more realistic. 

Art is truly my passion, and I do want to make a career out of it. Hopefully I‘ll be able to manage doing school work and my art journey. 

I will more than likely be able to, but I haven’t seen what my schedule will look like yet. (Hoping I have at least one art class!)
