Hazy Future

I honestly don't know how to start this one. The world around me has almost flipped within the timespan of a single Racing Realm. The bright future in my sights has been clouded in a thick fog. I'm really sorry if this post feels lacking as a result.

On the plus side, before the next race, we got a couple new gadgets that we REALLY needed. Firstly, the Emergency Driver Return was ready-- we had our hands on an instant-escape button that was going to be a literal life-saver. In addition, our vehicles got equipped with another special trick reverse-engineered from CLYP-- the Accelecharger-Vehicle Synchronization Device, or AVSD. As it implies, it allows any car to harness the energies from the Accelechargers that we've won, giving them special powers unique to each one. After the meeting, we got our chance to test them out. Once inserted into the slot placed in the dashboard, the vehicle will glow the Accelecharger's respective color, harnessing the specific ability from it. I wasn't there to check out the testing, so I don't have documentation on any of them right now. Not yet, at least.

After the testing concluded, we hardly had time before the next Racing Realm opened, and it was not at all a blast. The only Hyper Beams drivers alongside me were Veronica and Mike, with Shuvi and Wyre being absent from the Racing Realm. Where it was set wasn't exactly clear, as the entire Realm was coated in a thick, hazy fog. From what we learned later, this fog-coated environment was a set of three floating islands in a triangular formation, connected by the typical purple track that we raced on, caught in a perpetual dawn. If we were exploring it normally, it would be a breathtaking view. Unfortunately... this was a Racing Realm.

The first island of the three took place in a lush forest, mostly taking place on the purple track. While easily the most tame of the three, the fog and the presence of CLYP made it just as stressful nonetheless. Soon, we found ourselves on a bridge over a misty lake, and the Drones took their chance to strike-- the lead unit activating the Slam Ram, and firing at us with no warning. Almost all of us were forced airborne, throwing the Drones right into the middle of the pack, right into the running. Not long after, we were thrust off of the first island and into the roadway suspended in midair.

The second island was a much rockier environment, hurling us right into a field of stone spires that we were forced to slalom around, sending us down two alternate routes. I went on the right path, alongside Suki, Joseph, Tetsuya, and Veronica. CLYP continued to rise up the standings as we sped through the spires, before returning to the purple track, spiraling around a particularly tall spire. Following a jump over the spires, more like a spike pit, we began to speed around a set of switchbacks. At this point, tragedy struck.

...I don't know if I can bring myself to type this. Zemlya, right behind Road Rocket at this point, plowed through it, forcing it into a spin and a slam into the side of the track at around 150 miles per hour. A car that frail was nearly destroyed, and Tetsuya himself... his condition was terrible. Bleeding from the forehead, comatose... I frantically got him out of the wreck and Impavido 1, speeding off with my last burst of Nitrox.

The rest of the Racing Realm was a hazy blur to me, pain and horror nearly overtaking my mind. Between the second and third islands, I was able to use a maneuver with the Jump Jets mid-leap to take out Zed-35's Pulsator vehicle, knocking it into the abyss as the driver EDRed. Apparently, the left path was an equal bloodbath-- Kenji, Nathan, and Ryan all crashed, each of them except Nathan having used the EDR. Once the paths merged, CLYP made their move. It was the Drone Leader and Zed-36 in the running, with the commander hitting the Nitrox before Zed-36 slingshot by him, into the lead. After that, the leader made a bold play-- forming the Slam Ram device despite the lack of ram, its huge exoskeleton blocking any way to pass it in this section, allowing Zed-36 and its HW Prototype 12 to rocket further and further ahead...

The last island, a dense and decaying wetland, was a race to the finish, its tight corners forcing the commander to disable the Slam Ram, giving us a chance to go head-to-head with it as we drove over the mossy peat and the light layer of water that coated it. It was Mike, Thomas, and Emma in the front line, a combination of Mega-Bass and Dual Buzzsaws that attempted to take the commander out. Unfortunately, once Mike got a shot at knocking Zemlya aside-- it only deterred the car, slamming into the treeline and turning it into a sideways roadblock that Power Pistons proceeded to violently crash into, forcing Emma to EDR. Apparently, the Drone at the wheel of that big SUV wanted a shot at Emma's Accelecharger, as it lingered near the crash site for a while-- only to find nothing of value.

The final section of the race was a desperate attempt to catch up to Zed-36, through a foggy-as-ever series of rocky switchbacks, moss lining the walls of the roadway. Throughout the majority, we found ourselves struggling to even catch the guy's line of sight. Not until the very end, at least, at which the fog cleared up as we reached the final section-- a huge incline up towards the center of the island, where the portal waited for us... and unfortunately, for Zed-36.

A Nitrox-boosted trio of Thomas, Mike, and Blake desperately gave it their best shot, but Zed-36 was equally stacked with Nitrox, and in the end... the initial advantage, set up earlier in the race, was enough to prevent us from doing anything. CLYP had been backed into a corner, and once we had the Wheel of Power, they had nothing to lose-- and everything to gain. For once, they had won an Accelecharger.

...And at the time, I didn't care. All that mattered to me was making sure Tetsuya, still in my passenger seat, was safe. After getting him into the infirmary, I discovered that in the end, the crash had left him alive-- but comatose. None of us really know when he's going to wake up, and it's got me as tense as ever. My own cousin, just... reduced to nothing with one crash, one moment. It brings back painful memories, ones I'm not ready to share online. The next day, Brick, Kenji, and Takane showed up at the infirmary-- they gave me a bit of a peptalk, inspired me to actually get this post out there. Most importantly, Brick inspired me to keep fighting. The Hyper Beams and I aren't down for the count yet-- and CLYP has another thing coming if they think I'm going to let what happened to Tetsuya go without retribution. They've officially sparked a war.

These CLYP people need to pay for doing that to all of you! You should have all of your team members go into the next realm and show them what for! Give them a taste of their own medicine.

Oh, I have good news for you, love. Not to spill too much, but... let's just say we did exactly that the moment we got the chance.

I'm going to be out of commission for a while, so can you do me a favor? Kick CLYP's ass for me !

Will do! Also, don't do the message signature thing, it's weird when anyone besides me does it.

Honestly- this seems to have past the point of rational action. I recommend bringing firearms and other shit into these “realms”, show these CLYP asscracks what for!

Okay, CLYP's full of some real jerks, but I don't think they deserve a gun and the element of surprise. That'd be the coward's way out. I'm gonna beat them down with pure racing skill!
