against pornography, blog one

i'd really like to say that i think it's unfair to act like the radical feminist stance against pornography is in any way similar to the stance against it by conservatives. the conservative argument against pornography is that causes erectile dysfunction in males and leads to "promiscuity" and that it leads people down paths to sexual relationships which they deem "degenerate".

i am not only completely indifferent and unsympathetic to their reasoning, i also find it totally backwards and incorrect.

i used to be a prostitute, whomever or however many folks you like to sleep with, for whatever attributes they have, as long as you treat them kindly, you get no judgement from me. however, as a prostitute, i must say that the men who chose to buy sex from me were at least 15 years older than i was, they physically weren't my type, and i would not have let them fuck me if they weren't paying, and these were conservative, men who were married and they went to prostitutes to cheat on their wives, and they use pornography, and they sought prostitutes for whatever they wanted that their wives were not willing to give. these are men who are used to possessing women. most of all, these men compared me to other trans women in that they saw in pornography, and they treated me the way they saw other trans women being treated in pornography, and it was painful. when i asked these men to stop inflicting pain on me, they kept going anyway, they raped me.

a few months after i stopped being a prostitute, and for a little more than a year before i ever came into any kind of contact with radical feminism, as just a plain MtF AnCom, i developed my own stance on pornography, that i soon became quite critical of it, that it teaches men to hold wrongheaded beliefs about the kind of sex that women and transsexuals like, it teaches men that sex is for male pleasure, and that it affirms mens' already fast-held belief that patriarchal dominance over women and trans women is natural and erotic. other anarchists, especially the cis male anarchists, were particularly hostile toward me because i was critical of something which they hope without question that they should get to enjoy as men.

to quote dworkin, "the basic message of pornography is that no matter what you do to a woman, no matter how much you hurt her in whatever ways, she will like it."

and there is no ignoring that conservatives will take the fact that roughly one in eight trans women are or have been prostitutes as a fact that they can use to try and defame all trans women everywhere collectively, and it affects the way people see trans women, while conservative men get to have rough, kinky porn and sex with tr***y prostitutes as a treat, and nobody bats an eye. they are "red-blooded males," after all.

furthermore, there many editorials citing data reports from porn sites that trans pornography is most uploaded, streamed, and downloaded in parts of america where transphobia is the harshest, the most hateful, and the most widespread. if this doesn't fulfill your definition of the proof needed to show that men use pornography as a medium of rape culture against women and transsexuals, then frankly i don't think anything will.

the reason i'm against pornography is because i see it as a form of violence, perpetrated disproportionately by men, male pimps, male pornographers, male punters, male porn users. and it is a form of violence against women and against transsexuals, that targets them particularly the way that men see women, and it hurts.

my argument against pornography isn't that you're "sinful".
my argument against pornography is that you're hurting me.
you're hurting me.
please stop.
it hurts
