Giving writing a try

I'm currently trying to write a short story as a hobby. If anyone has any useful advice for a first timer. I'd appreciate it greatly.

I'm writing a story that's more of an action series. I have no artistic talent so I have no way to convey this visually. It admitting reads like a script sometimes. It's action/adventure series with some mystery elements that involves protagonist in High School dealing with bizarre things happening in their home town. I'm really looking for just tips for anyone he is new writing stories or any form of fiction

okay. Well, for action scenes remember it's most important to write smooth scenes that flow well syntactically as this will help your reader visualize the action in their head. Don't bother adding every little detail if you can't do it without it sounding clunky or "like a script" as you said.

I tend to focus on basic character motions. "Looking at", "Hitting this", "Running towards". etc. I only usually go into more detail about a characters movement during transitional scenes. Like if a character leaves a scene to go home. Or a person is teleported somewhere. In most cause, I tend to avoid making movement (either it be action or other wise) longer than a sentence or movement. It's hard sometimes. When I read it back to myself, but it helps. I am picking up what you're putting down. I'm personally not against my story reading like a script, at least this early. I do hope to someday format it a little better.
