[NSFW] Required Reading: A Brief Look at Korean Girl Group Sensuality & Sexuality

It is well known that South Korea is a much more socially conservative country. It's harder to sneak profanties or explicitly sexual lyrics onto the radio or even perform them in front of a general audience (unlike Western free musical festivals with bands singing whatever as long as no curse is uttered). I originally wanted to title this and organise this as an anthology, but I am not well-versed enough in Korean to utilise their search enegines to the fullest for more accurate measures of quailifications such as 'public praise' or 'critical acclaim', however, it is not with much thought to understand why many of these entries were/are banned from broadcast in South Korea.

Sorted by alphabetical order (song), here is an incredibly biased 'required reading' on 'sexy concepts' from Korean girl groups.

Laysha

Over looked queens of the sexy concept, Laysha have been critized as being overly sexual and having music videos akin to 'softcore porn'. While there are other groups like them, Laysha have been the least controversial of their kind. []

Seeya were more popular in Korea than they were in the West, often appealing to the public with ballads and occasionally upbeat music that appealed to wider audiences. Seeya acted as starting point for domestically and internationally loved actor Nam Gyuri. []

^{Cha Cha by Rainbow Blaxx - mass disliked and intensly slutshamed, but 'Cha Cha' was a critique on exactly that anyway. 'Cha Cha' criticized sexy concepts, the treatment of celebrities and Korean music industry itself. A genius song that has continued it's relevancy, even with the slow death of the 'sexy concept' in the Korean music industry.}
