lip is one of my fav characters from shameless and i love character analysis's. i think lip growing up was always held to a really high standard by everyone around him, he was the smart one. i feel like this standard alone set lip up for failure. im only on season seven of shameless so far so maybe some of my judgements are far off. idfk. with alot of the gallagher kids you can tell lip seems to be the only one with no particular attachment to monica or frank. with carl he wouldve been closer to frank in a period of time , ian was closer with monica etc. it feels like lip has nothing to do with either of them (valid tbf). i feel like lips biggest fear was ending up like either of his parents. when he came out of rehab, he had grasped some self awareness and realised he was turning into frank. i feel like this was a wakeup call for lip. when he relapsed again he ended up breaking into his professors house (an older woman who he used to fuck every night of the week x), now. im not the best person to be saying this but his motherly issues are showing fr fr. someone get this kid a mammy ffs. lip heavily had such an attachment to her because she was older, and treated him like a little boy most the time. and for the first time in his life he didn't have to be the more experienced/mature person in the situation. lip was nurtured by fiona for years and as soon as she stepped down from raising the kids, he fell off the wagon. he didnt have anyone. when he was sober a year he dedicated most of his time to saving other alcholics (nurturing people who need it), he never got nurtured as a child and i feel like it could tie into why he likes helping people from rock bottom. he doesnt care what state hes in personally, he still would go out of his way to help people who are struggling. out of all the gallagher kids you can definitely see more see through with how lips traumas show. someone get this chap some parents frfr.
