Top 5 Celebrities Who Deserve Their Own Biopics

In recent years, one of the biggest fads in cinema (besides all the mediocre (at best) remakes) is Biopics about Musicians and Celebrities. You had Rocketman (The Elton John Story) and Bohemian Rhapsody (The Story of Queen and Freddie Mercury) in 2019, The Beatles got their like 5th (or so?) Biopic around that time, even Smellvis I mean Elvis got one this year and Weird Al is getting one this Fall.

I think it's time we gave Biopics to some lesser known entertainers. The Mostly Unknowns who deserve their 5 seconds in the spotlight again. Here are 5 Entertainers worth a Biopic and why they deserve it:

5.) The Shaggs - I know this wouldn't be the first choice for everybody as there is 0 demand for people who don't know how to play instruments, but if you know the back story of The Shaggs, you would understand that it wasn't their fault they turned out the way they did (a lot of that blame falls squarely on their dad who did not do them any favors). Nevertheless, their first album could be looked at as early Experimental Rock (a genre not many people understand even when it gained Mainstream Attention years later). Their story was a weird one and sounds like the plot of a B-Movie. Though the Biopic would be short considering the story doesn't have much sordid detail, it would still be one worth making.

4.) Dean Reed - There are many blacklisted celebrities whom in their own right, deserve their Biopic: Pete Seeger, Joe Glazer, Phil Ochs, Animator John Hubley, and amongst all of those, is Denver, Colorado's own Dean Reed. Also known as The Red Elvis, Dean was an American Teen Idol whom toured The Soviet Union in the early 1960s and later defended it resulting in a lifetime ban from any form of mainstream entertainment in his home country. He would later become a smash in other countries that otherwise forbid most American Entertainment (including a then Communist Czechoslovakia) but that would be it for him. His life was tragic and abruptly came to an end in 1986 (not long before The Fall of The Iron Curtain began) via suicide but it was also an interesting one to say the least. He was proof that the best celebrities were often the ones who were blacklisted.

3.) Frank Zappa - Now here's someone who lived an interesting life. Frank Zappa was in his right, his own music genre (A mix of Avant Garde, Prog Rock, Jazz Fusion and Novelty Rock). Though he was a Libertarian (🤮), he was also brilliant, funny, said a lot of things not many people were supposed to understand (and if they did understand, those people probably should have seeked help) and talented. I would not mind seeing a Biopic about how he conquered the music world with his bizarre personality and outrageous statements. The problem would be finding the right person to play Frank himself and pulling it off and finding the right director who would take little to no creative liberties. Either way, Frank deserves it whether he would toss in his grave or not.

2.) Big Mama Thornton - Her career was short lived but Big Mama Thornton truly was the original Queen of Rock n Roll. Her story deserves to be told in movie form and the truth about how Elvis stole Hound Dog from her needs to be more common knowledge. The same could honestly be said for any black musician that had their songs stolen by the soulless criminal suits that run our toxic joke of a music industry but especially Big Mama Thornton; A legend who deserves her long overdue credit for her work. She will always be more talented than any sleazy mainstream fraud celebrity musician.

1.) Tom Lehrer - I have nothing but the utmost respect for Tom Lehrer. He is proof that the most brilliant people, can also be hilarious. A Mathematician, Lecturist, Satirist, and Singer/Songwriter, Tom is best remembered by the Comedy Music Community for Poisoning Pigeons in The Park, The Elements, as well as the very ahead of its time Masochism Tango. As of my writing this, he is retired and still alive (though I probably just jinxed that). Born to a Secular Jewish family in 1928, Tom began studying classical piano at the age of 7, though he was also interested in the Pop music of the time. Eventually, his mom sent him to a piano teacher. At that age, Tom learned to play show tunes which would become the stepping stone of his career writing Novelty Songs. His is an amazing story to tell in movie form. And hey, if Weird Al can get a Biopic, Tom should get one too.

Those are my pics for celebrities deserving of their own Biopic.

Which lesser known entertainers do you think deserve a Biopic? Put that down in the comment section
