DISCOVER COLLECTIVE SOUL

My favorite band is Collective Soul. If you want some good ol' 90s rock in your life, listen to this band. YOU WILL NOT be disappointed, aaahhh they are so addictive! A lot of people only know them for their hits like "Shine", "The World I Know", "Precious Declaration", "Heavy", "December", etc. But if you expand beyond that, you're gonna looooove what they have to offer. They have a sound for everyone, but if you love just good ol' rock and roll, they are the band for you. They are heavily guitar-riffed based but also have incorporated saxophones, pianos and even slide guitars into their songs. The best part is that they're still around, and their music hasn't gotten "soft" despite their age. If anything they are more diverse than ever, and they still excel in making rock music that will stand the test of time.

I created this playlist for newbies to Collective Soul. It's a collection of their deep tracks, from all decades, and provides all their various styles so you get the full spectrum of Collective Soul. Sample them all and let me know what you like! Their music is available on literally all platforms but I recommend you buy their CDs or try YouTube to hear the rarities.

Edit the code doesn't work for them so here's the links: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4nfDrTQSGHVYeoRavzQWbc?si=bf0b2e6f1d144144

If you just want to jump straight to the hits to see what you know, Collective Soul already has you covered.

Yay, if you got this far, I'm going to introduce you to the basic facts about the band and share some of my favorite pictures. Collective Soul (CS) formed in 1992 and hit it BIG with their first hit "Shine". They are a 5 piece band, although they have gone through a couple band member changes since. The most important things you need to know is that the current longtime members since the beginning are Ed Roland (lead singer/songwriter), Dean Roland (Ed's brother and rhythm guitarist) and Will Turpin (bassist). The group is based in Stockbridge, Georgia (near Atlanta).
They have 10 studio albums, 2 live albums, a greatest hits album and had 7 #1 hit singles in the 1990s alone. CS performed at both Woodstock '94 and '99. Ed Roland's biggest influence musically is Elton John, and has befriended him and did a duet together called "Perfect Day" in 2000. Elton gave Ed a baby grand piano in 1999, which he still uses on records today. Speaking of records, Ed recorded almost all his music at his house for over 10 years now. He is married and has two children- his oldest is named Linsey (after Lindsey Buckingham) and his youngest is named Lennon (after John Lennon). He also has an awesome goldendoodle named Trooper!
I have had the pleasure of meeting the entire band and their families over the year. Ed is such a southern gentleman and sweet to me (he's also my heartthrob so lay off MY man!) I have seen CS live 5 times in 2021 alone- and will be flying down to Atlanta this December for my 6th and 7th shows. Addicted indeed... ready for some cool photos!? Pardon some of their crazy fashion tastes... Ed also is influenced by Elton's clothes lol!
