Thoughts on Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)

What a fun mess!

While this film did have its flaws, it's nice to see Marvels return to silly, crazy comedy. Venom is a lovable nutjob as always, and I sure love seeing Tom Hardy look like he hasn't showered in days throughout the entire movie.

The villains, while underexplored, are both fun and have a great dynamic together (murder lovers my beloved). I think if the pacing had been slower, this would have allowed for more time to develop Cletus and Francis and their relationship with both each-other and the outside world.

The dialogue is pretty ham-fisted and cheesy, but I think the movies overall comedic tone saves it from being too much of a detriment. The actors tried their best to make even their worst lines sound great, and their effort really shines through.

If you're a symbrock fan, then you'll be very pleasantly surprised at just how gay this movie is. Jesus Christ, Venom pumps those homo-metaphors and quips out nonstop. So, SO many tentacles. And tongues. Wet, WET tongues. Eddie and Venom argue like an old married couple and make-up just as sappy and cute.

I give this one an 8/10 :3

TL;DR: Venom: Let There Be Carnage did more for the LGBT community than Call Me By Your Name ever did.
