Why Do I, As Do Many Other Readers Annotate Books?

Simple answer, it’s fun! For most people annotating a book is a little fun perk that you get from reading so much! And for you guys out there who have been living under a rock, annotating a book is where you get book tabs, usually in a wide array of colors, and assign each color something. I.E- blue tab=sadness in the story. so you get all these colors and whenever the emotion or whatever you assigned that tabs color happens in the book you add a tab to the page! Eventually you will have a book full of personality! Now, I like to actually get a pen and underline important things, write my thoughts, and circle my favorite storytelling moments and literature masterpieces! A lot of readers look down on writing in books because it “defaces the book” but in my opinion if i’m going to buy the book why not make it my own? Annotating the book also helps me indulge in the story further and truly realize how deep and complex certain scenarios and writing examples can be! Now, tabs and annotation in ur books might not be everybody’s thing but if you are trying to find a good way to enhance your reading experience then annotation is a great outlet!
