Hill of Sunflowers (Poem)

He thinks of a place, both sunny and warm

But his eyes, before him, only a storm

A bright future gone, one he cannot live without

A bleak life, now void, filled solely with doubt

Frail on his feet, with no path to follow

He sinks to his knees, empty and hollow

What will raise him, he can only wonder

As his ears, covered, fill with thunder

But the clouds do part, of that he can say

When he saw her face, her eyes, on that beautiful day
