  while other rules can be applied during in-person gameplay, this tutorial is based off the content in this online version.
the aim of the game: get rid of all your cards before anyone else.
card order: starts at 3 (lowest), ascends, ends at 2 (highest). joker card is all-powerful. basically, 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 J Q K A 2 Joker. if that's hard to remember, don't worry, the online version organizes your cards in this order.

  at the end of the first round, each player will receive a role based on their placement. this affects literally nothing except the beginning of the following round. after each round, roles will be given again.

very rich man: first place. exchanges two cards of choice with the very poor man.
rich man: second place. exchanges one card of choice with the poor man.
poor man: third place. exchanges highest card with the rich man.
very poor man: last place. exchanges two highest cards with the very rich man.

  the basics: play a card that is higher (NOT EQUAL) in strength than the previous card played.
pairs and triples: you can play just one card, but you can also play two or three cards of the same number. all players to follow must play the same amount of cards.
taking the L: if you have no cards to play, you have to pass on your turn. if everyone passes, whoever played the last card will start the next turn.

  while the joker can be played on its own as the most powerful card, it can also be played in combination with any other card and take on it's strength. it's kind of like a ditto.

  if four cards are played at once, instead of counting as a "quadruple" or whatever, it will trigger a revolution. basically, this will reverse the card order. however, the joker still trumps all.

  if any 8 card is played, either as a single, pair, triple, or anything else, it will instantly stop the turn in what's called an 8-cut. whoever played it gets to start the new turn.

  you can play as many cards as you want if you have a set of the same card suit, going in numerical order.
