Gerbil owners? (Or small animal owners in general?)

So about 4 months ago I adopted a little rescue gerbil named Racecar! Hes adorable and I love him to death, but I wanna upgrade his cage a bit. At the time I didn’t exactly know proper care for small animals and I got him a 10 gallon tank with everything he’d need. So now, I really would like to upgrade his tank majorly. But I really can’t afford one of those huge tanks and the stuff to put in. I’m currently trying to sell his old stuff to get brand new things that will work better for his needs and comfort. So any suggestions? I’d love to try the bin tank idea but I’m very scared he may chew through it very quickly (as he is a chewer) but I don’t want to spend $80 dollars for a big tank minus the supplies to put in it. I’ve found a few tanks and cages but I’d really like something I could do on my own!  So once more, any help?
