I took a little time off from life. Exactly five years. For what? Mental health mainly, redemption and rehabilitation, and time to relax. I feel much better thanks to my parents giving me a chance when no one else would.
If you don't know, I quit my career job about five weeks ago. And I don't have a plan to be completely honest.
This is and will be the most relieving decision I've ever made.
You have no idea how complicated the mess in my head is, and that's okay. We aren't supposed to carry everyone's problems for them. We help when we can, and we live a little while taking a piece from each other. Everyone has something to give and everyone has something to take. It is up to you, or us really, to appreciate these moments in life. As I say often to others, "I take a little piece of you, and you take a little piece of me, even if it is only this one moment. Appreciate each other"
Take the time to occasionally tell your friends and family how much you love them. Be willing to be there when needed. And simply contribute kindness as best as you can. This is how I like to live, and this is the only reason I even have friends. I don't like to touch people or even look at them directly, but I'll force my friends to have a hug with me because they are important to me.
I just spent the week in a new city. It is a major change from the desert garage I have been hiding in alone. It is kind of crazy but, I have not been that happy in years. To be around people, meet lunatics, talk to them and the homeless, to see people just enjoying life as best as they can. Living in this machine isn't easy. We all need time to smile.
So I guess the point of this post, I'm changing my life big time. But I'm at the mercy of availability, as if the world isn't ready. That's the problem of not having a plan.
And that's the beauty of not having a schedule to live by. Right now if I decided to just stay in the garage, I could maintain my lifestyle for two to three years based on my savings. But I also know that is not healthy.
To quote the great Alan Watts, "do what you love to do now, and the money will come later" his advice to college students.
Coming soon, I'll share my new life with you. I've never been more self collected than now, and the last week in this city has made me more happy than I have been in decades.
Love you all and I'll make sure you don't have to worry about me if you do. Life is only worth living if you do it for yourself.
Meanwhile I'm going to run amok.
