Generational trauma

Why are we left to pick up the shattered pieces of not only the world, but of ourselves? Why did our parents ruin us so deeply, that out of spite and pure disgust, we prevail. Why are we so broken trying to be polar opposites of how our parents raised us. Why do we care so deeply, when they could never be bothered?
