Okay so there are blog posts, which are like normal posts that stay on your profile. Then there are "bulletins" which are basically like "stories" on other socials, and they only stay on your profile for 10 days (I think you can make them shorter/longer if you want). Only your friends can see them. If you want to customize your profile beyond the basic profile pic/default options, head on over to the "layouts" tab up top and there are different profile layouts there, you can copy and paste the codes into the "about me" section of your profile. If you want to have music play on your profile when someone views it, check out my blog post for the correct steps.
The other tabs at the top are kind of self-explanatory; home takes you back to your page with your posts/your friends bulletins/etc., "blog" lets you see the top blogs in various categories; you can also click on a category on the left sidebar to view entries in that category. "Bulletins" shows you your friends' bulletins, "groups" shows you top groups etc.
