A freeform rant on music, gay representation and irony

Ight I can't take it anymore I gotta nerd out

a couple years ago I found this funny little song about homosexuality that came out in 2005 and became a part of an album in 2007 or at least thats as much as I can piece together from the internet
I'm sure that the words funny, homosexuality and 2005 don't sound like a well aged piece, but see the reason I find the song so good is it operates on like 3 layers of irony all at once which is something even the most elaborate of memes still struggle to pull of in the modern day and at no point does the joke actually lands on homosexuality iself unless you deliberately choose to be ignorant in which case you're the butt of the joke through at least one of those layers
all that in a single verse and a chorus, but it's the execution that matters here
the songs progressively get more complex throughout the album but they all retain the irony as well as the social implications (more so than commentary)
It feels a lot like socrates asking ancient athenians trick questions to provoke a response and it still works to this day because people still choose to be ignorant about the deeper meaning
but like how the fuck can this not have a higher meaning when the album is literally called "The Objectification of Me"

and the thing that just tipped me to write about all this
is that they went one extra step
I checked the release date
April 1 2007

The author - Holland Boys has a youtube channel - tiny one but the description is important so I'm just gonna cite it 'cause it's the best backup for me not overanalysing stuff

Holland Boys was performance art, not a judgement of any group of people. If there was a judgement on the creator's part, it was a positive judgement that gay people add so much to our culture. If you utilized this content to make fun of someone, or demean someone by calling them "gay" you missed the point and intention of this content. This was an exploration of a character, like an actor playing a gay character on a show or movie, not something to hurt others with. It is time to put this content to rest, so I will continue to do copyright infringements on any channel that reuploads the video from Holland Boys. Thanks and best. HB
and by God "We are Diamonds" effectively fucking predicted modern social media culture

LIKE HOW CAN GAY CLUB MUSIC FROM 15 YEARS AGO BE THIS GOOD?

anyway here is the album
and the song I started the rant taking about

yes the album starts with it
also can I just say that Korg M1's organ2 preset was pretty much made for it?
(or whatever other organ it might be)
like that sound was in everything for a while but when anyone mentions it this is what I hear

it's just a shame that ignoring the deeper meaning behind the project went from laughing to scrutiny but that's the natural evolution of peoples views on the subject matter itself
