this summer a friend of mine wanted to gather some people and start a dnd campaign, and i didn’t really have anything better to do this summer, so i agreed to join. before this friday, i’d never ever played dnd in my life, so learning to play was a whole experience in itself.
my only knowledge to dnd before joining my friends’ campaign was that some people like to LARP, and that they played this silly lil board game in stranger things, i had no idea what to expect :’) but i actually ended up having a lot of fun!
we ended up meeting for the first time for 7 hours, which was wayyy longer than we originally intended, but the first 3 hours of our originally 4 hour time slot was spent making characters… almost everyone at the table except for the DM didn’t know where to start, but thankfully my buddy is really patient and walked us through it. we started the campaign after that, and played for a while. it was so much fun and a really cool bonding experience. would recommend! im excited to meet every friday in the future from now on.
the character i made is a half-orc lady, who is a barbarian sailor. she has dreams to travel the world, but she’s super quick to anger and gets herself in trouble sometimes. her name is helene.
