Not sure if you like sci-fi, but my favorite book of all time is Skyward by Brandon Sanderson! It's a sci-fi story about a girl named Spensa who wants to join the military in order to defend her planet against alien attackers. However, she faces difficulty joining as her deceased fathers reputation haunts her.
It's kind of a long one, around 500-600 pages, but it's so good and the pacing is excellent! I have yet to read Sanderson's other works but I really want to soon :3.
