Hello there,

In April 2018, I lost about half of the gear that was used to create my first album 'Adaptation' so I had to rebuild my studio. I ended up starting a job a week later at a music store where I was able to purchase gear at-cost straight from the dealers. This greatly helped accelerate the process and I even improved the quality of some areas that needed it (conversion mostly).

I had spent years with the gear that I used for the first album which had gotten me into a flow of things. For this one, everything was new which led to constantly exploring all sorts of things. I was also working in an enviroment where I met other musicians who let me borrow their gear  (I love you guys!!) so I got to learn different workflows and greatly expand my ideas of what could be. I also ditched my attachment to going for sounds and just went with what got me the most excited. All of these songs are from moments that I was fully engaged.

The instruments I used on this album were analog synthesizers, guitars, bass guitar, samplers, drum machines, actual drums, field recorders, flutes, modular synthesizers, xylophone, digital keyboards, and my voice. I used Ableton to organize and manipulate the recordings of all these sounds, but I also used it as a sound source as well. Using Max inside Ableton allowed me to mess with wavetable synthesis, granular synthesis, fine-tuned probability sequencing, and controlled experiments with MIDI CC. On top of the variety of instruments used, the recording and post-production methods were used in such ways that they became part of the sound itself.

As for what this album is about, all I'm going to say, for now, is that I hope this music helps you on your way. I hope it stimulates your brain and provides inspiration/ comfort/ courage to do everything that you have to do. I hope it reminds you that we are active participants in this world and that we always have the power to change everything around us for the better.
