the case of benjamin bathurst

Everyone here already knows how much I like writing about/reading about missing person's cases. Something about them is just so interesting, not to mention kind of fuels my love for forensics. I honestly wanna pursue a career in forensics someday, and the idea of looking into missing persons cases.

One I watched a video on was how a man by the name of Benjamin Bathurst vanished in 1809. The guy was a British diplomat and was traveling through Germany with an aide and when the aide got into a cart that he and Bathurst were supposed to travel in together, he suddenly couldn’t find him.

They found Bathurst’s coat in an outhouse and pantaloons miles away from where they last saw him, and his wife spent millions trying to find him, but nothing worked. People think he was murdered, as a skeleton that could be him was found many years later, but the strange thing is his disappearance.

He was known to carry pistols and wasn’t shy about using them, so how could no one have seen or heard him when he vanished? It’s a real mystery but super super SUPER fascinating.
