begin again

begin again is a tragedy. a story built on grief, bereavement and depression. it's a typical sad book i feel like. it starts off with the heroine of the story recently losing her twin brother in a car crash. a car that she was in, not only did she lose him but she also lost her voice. in a metaphorical sense rather than an actual one. she chooses not to speak, not to let the world hear her ever again. because all of her previous pleas and prayers fell on deaf ears. she's forced to move away from all she's ever known, stuck in a house with one narcissistic parent and another who is ignorant to all her hurt. and also three other siblings who think she's weird and a freak for not being able to speak.

she meets the love interest on the first day of her new school. he's everything and more. sweet, charming, cheeky and everything you would want in a guy. he's apart of the football team, popular in every sense and everyone loves him. for some reason he's drawn to her. he chooses to make an effort, doesn't judge her for her lack of words and in fact tries his hardest to welcome her into this new world. he doesn't force her to speak, or do things she's uncomfortable with. but he draws her out of hiding, shows her off to the world. proves to her that she's worthy of the love she thinks she doesn't deserve.

begin again is a simple, yet twisted love story about Brontë Maddox and Jameson Sinclair. A duo that the world would never pair together. the angsty, guilt ridden, grumpy teenage girl and the all loving, charming and daredevil teenage boy. a story about overcoming sadness, trauma and finding your voice in a world where you think all is lost. a story about trying to end a cycle before it begins again.
