generational trauma

Mothers, when someone hears that word they typically think of nurturing, kind, gentle, caring, and protective. My experience with my mother was none of the above neither was my moms experience with her mom and neither was my moms mom experience with her mom moms have a very complicated history within my family so much so its tragic mothers abusing their daughters because thats all they know then realizing they are no better than their mom but by the time they realize its to late the damage is already set in and the cycle begins all over again on their grandchildren it makes it very hard to hate or love your family cause deep down you know its all they know and they care but at the same time how much do they really care if they never tried to break the cycle before hurting you in the same ways they say one of the hardest relationships anyone will have is  between a mother and daughter and i find that true now more than ever
