Seeing MCR live..

On the 24th May this month, I got to see MCR live for the first time.

I've practically been waiting for this since i became a little wannabe emo in 2015 when i was like 10 years old. Not to mention the two year gap between when the concert was supposed to go down and when it really did.
Summer-Winter 2020 was when i was super hyperfixated on them (and when i bought the tickets) and even though my fixation had died down somewhat and my mind was overshadowed with exam stress (i had an exam on the 26th), it was literally awesome.

Here's how it went:

They played most of my favourite songs, aka give em hell, boy division, house of wolves and skylines and turnstiles. I'd actually only recently listened to boy division but BOY (no pun intended :p) is it amazing. When house of wolves came on i literally went insane,, it was very entertaining to hear how loud everyone screamed -that- line (including myself).

Skylines and turnstiles was the first of two encore songs and BOY OH BOY i literally screamed my head off... i am upset that no one around me knew the lyrics tho. On leaving, i overheard someone saying how they should listen to their first album and someone reply that its a waste of time (broke my little heart fr). Ngl, i dont even know the lyrics that accurately, but I SCREAMED THEM ANYWAYS. its essential! Another note; no one around me was jumping like the whole concert and it made me so sad bc firstly i mustve looked like a weirdo jumping and moshing by myself and secondly WTF PEOPLE its MCR playing the best songs of the CENTURy literally get up and move u bastards.

The intervals of gerard talking literally filled my heart with so much glee i wanted to burst into a million pieces.. he spoke about how his wife fell in love with him (it was adorable) and about how the band never truly got to have fun so they're making up for the lost time and also how he doesnt care about what his voice sounds like anymore. This bit was kinda hilarious; gerard basically said that he could sing for the queen of england and still not care about his voice,, to which the whole crowd started booing (bc fuck the queen fr). Gerard jus kinda moved on, not really sure abt whether to get into the politics or not, but CLEARLY he wanted to start something bc he proceeded to bring it up again to which the crowd started chanting 'fuck the queen!'

It was kinda amazing and awful at the same time bc to be in a crowd who all hate the queen was awesome, but the blue haired girl i went with was a protestant (long, political story) and therefore did not hate the queen. She just kinda stood awkwardly as everyone screamed it.

Also, the way the guys interacted with each other on stage literally made me SCREAM i cant believe i was getting to witness this stuff that i had only seen in VIDEOS for years. They literally act the way they used to.. they literally ARE the way they used to be.. theyre literally as awesome as i always thought they were and it was incredible. The concert went way too quick and i wanna go back :(

Seeing Frank Iero (who i must say is my comfort man) in real life was literally insane to me and i am highly shocked i wasnt a dissociated mess the whole concert considering the STAKES. I couldnt see the stage all that well so i tended to watch the screens instead but those odd moments when frank popped up on screen made me actually die a thousand deaths that man is so incredible

Also, RAY????! hello??!!! it was a bit windy this day and everytime he came on screen his hair was blowing across his face while he was shredding honey on guitar and bro it was the most majestic thing ive EvEr seen. My mum said he was prob her favourite after it, she was like "that man with the hair is a legend!"

Singing black parade with that crowd may be one of the most cathartic experiences of my life. Its been years since i havent just disregarded that song but boy it felt amazing to scream those lyrics and feel every second of it. Same goes with helena (the closing song). Screaming so long and goodnight to the loves of ur life while they scream it back. It literally felt unreal, there was such a connection between everyone there.

One thing im super raging about is that GERARD AND RAY went to a bar after the concert and like hung out there and fans got to go and meet them and AAAAA i wish i had known about itttt.

ANOTHER THING im sad about is that i didnt get any MERCH!!! i really wanted the p0rn st4r shirt and i pledged to get it at the end but AAAA i forgot to bc everyone was blocking the merch stand at the end grrrr...

Also, a few anecdotes (is that the right word?) from the concert:

I got to hang with this blue haired emo girl who was a friend of a friend and she got so smashed she was falling into people in front and behind us and was barely coherent by the end (but it was hilarious). It was the first time I had met her and she detailed that she had a whole bottle of wine on the way down, then proceeded to drink like 3 of those tiny bottles u get at concerts. (who drinks wine at a concert?!) She was pretty awesome tho

On the way in, these two boys came up to my mum and asked her if she could help get them into the concert [for context; those under 18 cant go in without someone over 25] and she ended up agreeing on the condition that the younger guy (craig) sprayed himself with something cuz he stunk of weed (she found it funny tho).

During one of the support acts i sadly spotted my despicable ex who was heading past us, i attempted to ignore her but my mum grabbed her arm and spoke to her (she didnt say anything bad), to which she looked and sounded very shocked. It was hilarious and horrible at the same time. She deserved it anyways.

Befor they came on, I basically agreed with my mum that when mcr came on she'd take my jacket and drink so i can jump freely but when they actually showed up i ran into the crowd and forgot to hand them over so lets just say i was VERY TOASTY the whole time. Also, when i jumped, my drink was spilling literally all over the place my skeleton gloves were soaking LMAO.

There was also this super gender person in front of us in this awesome skirt and croptop with the coolest hair on the planet and they gave me and bluehairedfriend free w333d (super epic).

On the way out, there was a lot of bottlenecking to get out which was super annoying but this middle aged woman beside me turned to her friend and yelled "THIS IS LIKE SQUID GAMES" and it literally made me crack up i didnt even care abt being stuck in a crowd of sweaty escaping mfers any more. when ppl say 'squid games' it makes me die

Also! Someone complimented my jacket and makeup which made me real happy.
