My Lovely Saturday

Saturday before last was something special. M and I had talked about going out to breakfast, but did not make any concrete plans. When we woke up in the morning, it was sunny and we both had more energy than usual. We couldn't decide where we wanted to go, so we called M's younger sister, Spud (I'm not kidding, that's one of her nicknames) and invited her to join us. Normally she is too tired after the workweek, but this time she said yes! We gave her three choices, and she picked our favorite: "Alice's Restaurant."*

We arrived just in time for the morning special and ate while chatting. We mostly discussed Pokémon Go, one of Spud's favorite pastimes. I'm only a casual, but she humors me. After a filling breakfast and lovely tea, I asked her, "Since you are already out, do you want to come over and watch the new season of Aggretsuko?"

I have been waiting to watch it with her. When season two came out, we agreed to get together for it. We made two pots of fruity teas, and candied lemons together. We even had some cookies to make it a proper teatime. It was hands down, the best way to watch the show.

When the third season hit, we obviously had to make some changes. We couldn't figure out the watch party, so we facetimed while watching episodes separately at our own homes. I candied a lemon the day before and she no-contact picked up half of it. We made our own fruity teas. It doesn't sound like it would work, but we still had fun doing it this way. It was much better than not watching it together at all. That being said, in person is better.

It was marvelous to return to watching in person. She grabbed a lemon while I loaded M's wheelchair back into the car. We candied it, and once again accidently made lemonade. I brewed a pot of a fruity tea Spud had never tried before, and we watched the drama unfold. I'm sure I'll write more about this show at some point, but for now all I have to say is: How is this season more wild than the one where she becomes an idol??? As much as we enjoyed the show, the best part was being able to enjoy each other's company again, bonding over something fun. I'm glad we stayed safe and healthy, so we could do that again.

*Alice's Restaurant is the fake name I have given my favorite local café, yes it is based on the song. I've mentioned it in bulletins before. It's where I get most of my tea.
