When I was in 3rd grade, I was really dumb and I had to go to summer school due to my bad grades. There were these two girls a grade ahead of me who made fun of my outfits every day. I’d always tell the same teacher about their words, but she just told them to stop and gave them no punishment whatsoever.
At the end of the year, we were given a prize for how we did. Some kids got cool stuff like water guns, walkie-talkies, and those remote control car toys. I had high expectations for my prize annnddddddd….
I got a towel.

What were they thinking?!? Giving a 8 year old a TOWEL as a prize while everyone got the cool stuff??? Sure, at least I got something, but it was still very saddening for an 8 year old with really bad anxiety. As if the embarrassment wasn’t bad enough, my bullies got some of the good prizes (I don’t remember what they got, I just remember I was jealous of their prizes) and I KNEW they were going to pick on me for it!
And they did!!!! On the bus!!!!
I don’t remember what they said exactly, but it was something along the lines of “Anastasia got a beach towel, that’s just sad. Try harder next time, haha”.
When I got home, my mom congratulated me on finishing summer school, and she said, “Did you get a beach towel?”
I cried for the rest of the day. I was actually about to cry just by remembering this. I’m still so mad at those bratty girls and that teacher. Ugh.
