I feel like working in government (possibly after a while of being a lawyer, as that’s my goal now), would give me more control over my future. I want to be the one making the calls and decisions (or at least helping to), not relying on someone else to make them for me. I have a clear vision of some changes I want to be made and it’s frustrating to see those changes promised but never delivered on.

im planning on going in2 government as well (more specifically going in2 the law field and being an attorney), but i warn u that its not as simple as "making change", and if u go into it w/ that mindset u will most likely be disappointed. while it's very possible 2 make a positive change in a govt position, its far from simple - although i am speaking from a us perspective and rlly hav no idea what govt positions r like in other countries.
